If you are needing to rehome a pet, please click on the link on the left for help to find the best possible home for your pet. When you successfully rehome your pet, you can select ARF as your referring rescue and we will receive a "Rehome" donation! |
Other ARF tips on finding a new home for an animal:
-
Use social media, i.e., facebook, instagram, etc to advertise you are looking for a good home and post a good picture of the dog! Be very selective in a new owner for your pet--make sure they are a responsible pet owner!
-
Family first - check with family members to see if they might be willing to take in your dog and enlist their help to find the dog a good home. Tell EVERYONE you know that you are trying to find a home for the animal - friends, neighbors, business contacts, school mates - everyone!
-
Post a picture and description at your veterinarian's office.
-
Call KWON 1400AM radio (918-336-1400) to advertise the animal on Consumer Calls weekday mornings from 9:10am - 9:30am and Saturdays from 9:10am to Noon.
-
Place an ad in the classified section of the local newspaper.
-
Post a picture and description at your church, school, work place or other places you frequent such as pet stores, Atwood's, Tractor Supply on community bulletin boards.
-
If the dog is breed specific, use a google search to look for rescue groups in Oklahoma and contact them for help in finding a home as well.
-
We would suggest you avoid Craigslist, and definitely do not advertise giving your dog away for free! Many unscrupulous people (looking for dogs for research, bait dogs, etc.) use Craigslist to get free dogs.
